The Marquis is a strikingly contemporary restaurant with rooms located in the rural and unspoiled Alkham village in the Alkham Valley. The product of a major renovation in 2008, what was once the village pub, The Marquis of Granby, has been completely transformed in to a 5* property. We serve fine food and offer boutique accommodation in the heart of the English countryside.

Our Head Chef Charles Lakin presides over heavenly menus that change regularly and use locally caught fish and locally sourced produce. The menus are imaginative and the elegant 21st century styling is exceptional. We also boast a superb wine list and beers from all over the world as well as real ales. Join us for Lunch, a light bite or for Dinner. We have a private dining area for parties up to 20 and also offer a small and intimate venue for your wedding.

Rooms Description

Our five en suite bedrooms have views across the Alkham Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of the Kent Downs. The village's small and picturesque cricket pitch can be seen from most of the rooms. Queen sized pocket sprung beds are swathed in the finest cotton. Sumptuous fabrics dress windows and chairs. And an eclectic collection of art completes the mood, the mix and the personality that makes this place unique. There's also a large two roomed suite with a sofa which converts to a double bed if required.

Our restaurant is something special. The Head Chef Charles Lakin changes his menu regularly and uses only the freshest local produce and freshly caught fish.
