A warm and welcoming 600 year old Kent Inn, The Chequers Inn at Lamberhurst has played host to author Jane Austen, after which our beautiful five en-suite rooms are named. Featuring a roaring open fire in winter and serving year round hearty pub food, fine wines and a range of real ales including Kent's own Shepherd Neame beers, we're the perfect choice for romantic breaks, walking holiday and intimate weddings in the Weald. The five Jane Austen Rooms are all en-suite and individually themed, named after the author's iconic novels, with their own special style and decoration. Room 1, our Pride and Prejudice room is a twin room with a double and single bed. Room 2, Mansfield Park, is a spacious family room with en-suite bathroom, a double and single bed and views towards Lamberhurst village. Pretty Room 3 - our Emma room is a large double with river views and Room 4 - Sense and Sensibility is a bright, cheerful twin en-suite. For that extra special getaway opt for our Room 5 - Persuasion, a charming four poster double, the quietest of all our rooms with en-suite facilities and a romantic decor.
Continental style breakfasts are inclusive in booking, with Full English breakfast available by request and additional beds and baby cots happily provided all for a small extra fee. Our stylish and spacious on-site function room is ideal for wedding receptions, special occasions and business gatherings, seating up to 40 guests. We host regular live music and themed events at the inn, with our special Light Lunches featuring acclaimed Kentish musicians running throughout Spring and Summer!
The Chequers Inn is closed on Mondays. The restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings.
