After a day of driving you may wish to leave the car, as it's only a few minutes walk to our excellent local inns/restaurants for evening dinner/ There is a choice of five within a 5-10 minute walk. The Queens Inn — a 16th century coaching inn which offers guests staying with us a free glass of wine with each main meal or the The Oak and Ivy — a 15th century inn which offers our guests a 10% discount on all their meals. Southgate B&B is also close to Sissinghurst, Great Dixter, Bodiam Castle, Rye, Tunbridge Wells, Hastings, Hever, Leeds, Battle, Pashley Manor, Bewl Water for Lapland, Bedgebury, the coast and many National Trust properties and gardens.

Southgate-Little Fowlers Bed and Breakfast offers a choice of Four Poster, Kingsize Double or Twin rooms to guests. All rooms are ensuite and are light and airy with far-reaching views to Sussex and include - High quality very comfortable beds with luxury bedding and linen. Flat-screen TV, CD/radio, free Wi-Fi for laptop. Sitting area with sofa, complimentary hospitality tray with teas, coffee, biscuits, hot chocolate and mineral water, Mini fridge, Bathroom toiletries and Tourist information. In the morning enjoy a delicious choice of organic breakfast in the warm original Victorian conservatory. Sit at your own table amongst the many unusual flowers and plants and the magnificent Muscat vine that flourishes here — quite tropical in the summer! Out of season during cooler days we may serve breakfast in our Victorian drawing room. Large gardens are a feature of the house with many shrubs, trees, plants and flowers.There are garden tables with comfortable reclining padded chairs to relax or have a picnic. It was once renowned for the country's most notorious band of smugglers — The Hawkhurst Gang — who operated from the local inns.
