About this property

If you want to stay somewhere with lots of historic character, book a holiday at The Buttery Cottage in Maidstone. Our ancient cottage dates from the 15th century and has a Grade II* listing. This property was, as it's name would suggest, the town's buttery, and has now been expertly converted into two cottages. When performing the conversion we were incredibly careful to leave many of it's original features intact, so you can see the age of this cottage in every room. The open plan lounge has a heavily beamed ceiling, solid wood floors, leather and fabric seating, a flat screen TV with Freeview and, certainly it's best feature, an open fire with a bread oven.

When staying with us you're welcome to relax in the private back garden, and you can enjoy al fresco meals there as well. You should definitely visit some of the nearby attractions during your holiday with us. We're just three miles from Leeds Castle, built in the early 1100s, and you can tour the grounds and check out all of its individual attractions, which include an aviary and a golf course. You can also go for walks in the nearby Mote Park, which is perfect for dog walking. You can also go sailing and fishing on the massive lake in the park, or go for a swim at the indoor swimming pool there.

More about staying here

Our cottage has a number of fantastic details, with our open fire bread oven being one of the few that you're unlikely to see at other accommodations. Our kitchen combines other features like this with modern décor and furnishings, and the shaker-style cabinets and integrated appliances work well with the ceiling beams. There's a cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer, a microwave and a kitchen sink for you to use, with a dining area in the room. The first floor holds all three of our bedrooms, which consist of two spacious double bedrooms and a small bunk bedroom that's only suitable for children due to the small size of the beds. There's also a double sofa bed in the lounge.

Special to this property

Our cottage is made completely secure thanks to the electric gates surrounding the garden, so you won't need to worry while you're staying with us. There is a steep staircase leading to the first floor of our cottage, and so we advise that those with walking difficulties should not book with us. All logs for the open fire in the lounge can be provided free of charge, and we can also supply you with a high chair and travel cot for toddlers. There is off road parking for a maximum of two vehicles.
